Played TW yesterday on the Canada Day holiday with a 2:27 tee time. Arriving at the course the starter was missing (he was chasing down another group) but we loaded up our carts, checked in quickly and when he returned we were directed to the first tee.
The changes to the course we evident right away, as the first tee is no longer beside the clubhouse. It's kind of difficult to understand what they might have gained by eliminating the original first hole (residential?), although a lot of guys would get caught driving through the fairway at the corner. Also noticed that the 10th hole was converted into a par 3, removing one of the nice par 4s from the course.
The par 5s are pretty short now because of the changes, but there are well placed hazards in a lot of the landing areas for shorter hitters which helps to offset the distance.
Our round was quick at 3-3/4 hours including a quick stop at the "Lions Den" after 10 holes.
Condition wise, the greenskeeper should be commended on their work as the fairways were in excellent condition, the greens were medium speed and rolled true (although as usual, no one fixes ball marks - not the course's fault) The only downside to the greens is their firmness - unless you're hitting short & running on or can hit a ton of spin expect to be on the back fringe a lot.
Having played here before several times, it was somewhat evident that the course is probably impacted by the current economic state however with the pricing offered on LMG an enjoyable round is still possible.
