One of several golf courses at the World Golf Village. The driving range and practice area's set the stage for the rest of the course..."WOW"... We had a BLAST, we did a play and stay, we stayed in St. Augustine and spent seven days golfing! We chose this to be the last course we played. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We even got to see the alligator the 16th hole (every course we played, Barry kept looking for one). You can see the photo if you go to my profile page. The course was just fantastic. All the holes Arnie designed went one way, and Jack's went the other. Course set up wasn't too difficult. It was fair sometimes forgiving, and greens were true. Everone who worked there were extremely helpful, friendly and had a story to tell (if you took the time to talk with them), not to mention that they were from all over the US. Fresh apples in barrels at the begining of both nines. Water in abundance. A word of caution : DON'T BUY ANTHING AT THE CLUBHOUSE (shirt, hat, or gift) UNTIL AFTER YOU PLAY ! The Challenge par 3 was a hoot! You place a bet that you can hit the green. This is why I say wait to buy anything, You would spend the money anyway, why not take the chance to double it! You wager an amount that you can hit the green with your first tee shot...if you don't you get a certificate for the amount you bet (you have to pay the attendant before hitting your ball) if you hit the green whammo DOUBLE your money. I bet $50 dollars and won (picture on profile page) so I got a Shirt, divot tool and hat.
We played several wonderful courses during our stay to include the Royal and St Augustine Golf Course (tough), The Club at South Hampton (great) , Flemming Island (Fantastic), Eagle Harbor (Fantabulous) and Bent Creek (great). The King and Bear was a definative ending to our "Florida Swing" At first I thought the price was a little high but giving the area, the designers and the course. WELL WORTH THE MONEY!
