We made a special trip to this west end course as we all live in east end of the city on Tuesday, Aug. 12th. It's over an hour drive from home. This is the 1st time for all of us to play at this nice course, but the only problem is that it is too difficult for the average golfer. More so for the resort guests who might only play the odd games every year? This inevitably hampers the pace of play as the people in front of us was only a 2 some husband and wife, but were playing quite slowly. We were a 4 some but we still need to wait almost every hole. TO enjoy the course, one needs to come to play at least 2 to 3 times as the course is tight, not long but with the hazard guarding the fairways and greens, one is not easy to score low. SOme are even blind shorts.
Then came the rain, we waited for 15 mins with no sign of stopping and we returned to the club house for our rain check. We then found out that this course plays continuously from 1 thru 18 and unlike other courses that the 9th green would be closer to the club house as we had just finished the 10th hole when it poured.
It took almost 10 mins if not more to drive back to the clubhouse with steep hill cart path going up and down thru a heavily treed area. Some curves are real sharp. I think they should have more warning signs as there are many family coming here for vacation every year. It could be dangerous. By the time we got to the club house, there was no rain there. However, Glenn, the golf pro at the counter was very fair and gave us 2 18 holes rain checks as opposed to 4 9 holes which makes it easier for us to come back as a 2 some instead of a 4 some. Any way, it was a great experience and I definitly will go back and play it over and over again.
