Played on Victoria Day. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and shuttled me from/to the parking lot. The larger building was closed, the temporary proshop was cramped and there were a pair of portapots setup nearby.
But I came for the golf. Cold and seriously windy conditions made for interesting play on an exposed links-styled course...the Heath with Teeth!(e.g. 16th hole blue 145yds played more than 180). I walked the course and the
fairway markers showing the distance to the front, middle, and back of the greens came in real handy.
As for general conditions, the various mounds and run-off areas will challenge your ability to hit from sloping lies. The tee boxes and fairways were in good shape. The greens were hard and fast, but still reasonable. However, the group experienced some wobbling downhill putts and it wasn't just due to the wind (granted it wasn't easy to see the ball indentations on the firm greens to repair them). I found some of the greens on the back nine in better shape where the putts rolled true all the way to the hole.
So, the course is coming along, and I'll likely play it again in a month as everything improves. I played Piper's last autumn so I know the potential is there.
